MI Secure’s Electronic Media Destruction service helps clients remain in compliance with data management regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), as it relates to the retirement and disposition of electronic storage media. MI Secure offers a unique as well as very secure program which offers chain of custody and accurate asset tracking, which includes; on-site scanning of all media, signature capture with receipt print out, GPS vehicle tracking, online viewing, and Certificate of Destruction. MI Secure’s Electronic Media Destruction process is environmentally compliant as none of the media destroyed ever goes to a landfill. All shredded material is recycled.

Electronic Media Destruction: Pick -up Process

		MI sets a time schedule with the customer to arrive on site with lockbox.
		MI technician will bar-code scan each piece of media prior to loading them into the lockbox.
		Once all the media is loaded into the lockbox, the MI technician will ask the customer’s IT Staff person to sign off on the number of hard drives and other media that has been scanned.
		A print-out of all the media (by serial number) that has been scanned will be provided.
		Prior to sealing the box for transport, the MI technician provides a serialized security bolt for the IT staff member to record and then the box is locked.
		Contents are then transported to the MI facility in Secaucus, NJ in a MI Secure GPS tracked vehicle.
		Upon arrival, the customer is notified and an “invite” is sent with a password to log-on and view the shredding of their media via an IP camera in real time.
		The media is then destroyed.
		MI will generate a Certificate of Destruction accompanied by all the serial numbers of the media destroyed.  *A DVD copy of the video process is available upon request.
